Supporting Renewable Energy. Asking the Right Questions.
We support renewable energy and recognise the important role it plays in reducing carbon emissions. However, we believe every project should be carefully assessed to ensure it is proposed in the right location and that its impacts are properly understood. Our concerns focus on six key areas.
Landscape
The proposed development would change the character of approximately 150 acres of open countryside for many decades. For nearby residents, visitors and users of Swain's Walk, the landscape would be fundamentally altered.
Agricultural Land
The site includes productive farmland including best and most versatile grade 2 and 3a. We believe decisions should clearly demonstrate why this location has been selected and whether alternative sites with lower agricultural value have been fully considered.
Wildlife
Tabley Hill supports a rich variety of wildlife including bats, owls, buzzards and many farmland bird species. Independent ecological evidence should fully assess the long-term impact on habitats and wildlife movement.
Heritage
Tabley Cemetery, with its historic chapel, St Paul's Church and the surrounding landscape have been part of the local community for more than a century. Any proposal should carefully consider how these important heritage assets would be affected.
Flood Risk
Residents already experience flooding on nearby roads during heavy rainfall. Construction activities, drainage changes and soil compaction should be thoroughly assessed before any planning decision is made.
Community
Developments of this scale should be shaped through meaningful consultation and transparent evidence. Communities deserve to understand not only the proposed benefits, but also the potential impacts.
